19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.
The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.
But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
Both players swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to force a final set.
Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
